However, I am happy to watch films, cartoons and tv programmes produced by them: their deployment and depiction of technology, their mastery of modern graphic arts are infinitely superior to anything I, or the generation before me could do. So I have seen a couple of Harry Potter films but have never read a Harry Potter book, except one that had been translated into Albanian, the Shqiptar language lending it a complexity that was not present in the original.

However, where the police and detective genre is concerned, I cannot stand anything old at all. Police practice in the era before CCTV and DNA is about on the level of witch-finding, certainly unworthy of study.

Another preference I have is that I cannot relate to pornography written by women: it works on quite different principles to pornography written by men.

Generally men are happy to seize and overpower their female prey, ejaculate copiously in every orifice, and in manga comics, decapitate or disembowel them, but will eventually leave them in peace.

In female pornography the woman finds a rich and independent man and gradually, by sheer force of her personality, reduces him to a quivering cipher, a zombie who wants to spend the rest of his life working to please her, with herself as the beneficiary and himself merely the trustee of his fortune. It seems so unnecessarily cruel.

The four Twilight books are, in the admission of the authoress, based on Pride and Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet, Wuthering Heights and Midsummer Night’s Dream respectively; Fifty Shades of Grey is a non-vampiric re-telling of the Twilight saga.

As someone who can read ‘old-fashioned’, it makes more sense for me to go directly to the sources and cut out the middlewoman. In fact I would enjoy tracing some of these stories even further back: I have read the Ovidian originals of some of MSND but only now learn of a Middle German source called ‘Der Busant’. Wuthering Heights seems to me to describe sibling jealousy, of a type one finds in ‘Tom Jones’, Shakespeare, and even Genesis. No source has ever been posited, that I know of, for ‘Pride and Prejudice’: perhaps it is truly original, a work of pure female pornography.
A Nonny Mousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15824713232073772433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8205333.post-63577264775499353242015-03-05T02:55:15.391+00:002015-03-05T02:55:15.391+00:00You Brits have the right Idea. You Brits have the right Idea.Porcupinetaxihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16018872259616584599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8205333.post-35441644033904364142015-02-15T16:29:18.549+00:002015-02-15T16:29:18.549+00:0050 Shades of Gray started out as Twilight fan fict...50 Shades of Gray started out as Twilight fan fiction ("Master of the Universe"). When the fanfic hit it big, the author had to prune the vampire plotline, and turn Edward into Christian. Thus 50 Shades was born.

What is interesting is that Bella's character recieved much less in the way of rewriting. Her age was changed to 22, but her character remains that of a naive teen girl, inexperienced with sex and alcohol, etc.
Stirnernoreply@blogger.com
